Michael Almodova Design delivers Design and Interiors.
Michael Almodova Design is a boutique design studio specializing in refined residential interiors, bespoke lighting, and strategic design consulting.
With a foundation in Product Design from Stanford University, Michael’s career has been defined by the intersection of design excellence and commercial intelligence. Early experience in high-end retail sales and management in Palo Alto and Costa Mesa shaped his understanding of how environment, proportion, and light influence emotion — and ultimately, value.
Michael began at Gap Headquarters, contributing to a modern retail architecture language implemented across flagship locations in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Over the next fifteen years, his work spanned architecture, furniture design, and visual display before stepping into executive leadership roles within the home industry.
As Director of Furniture and Lighting for Pottery Barn Kids, he led design direction and international production, shaping collections for retail, catalog, and digital platforms. He later joined Restoration Hardware during its pivotal brand reinvention and IPO, designing lighting, décor, and outdoor collections while collaborating with global artisans and manufacturers. Most recently, as Senior Design Director at Arhaus Furniture, Michael created furniture, lighting, and décor collections rooted in craftsmanship and enduring form.
Today, Michael brings this rare blend of product mastery and interior sensibility to private clients and select commercial projects.
The studio’s services include:
Lighting design and specification
Decorative lighting sales and procurement
Custom lighting development
Furniture and décor curation
Retail and product design consulting
Lighting remains a defining strength of the practice. Michael approaches illumination not as an accessory, but as architecture — shaping atmosphere, defining scale, and setting the emotional register of a space.
His aesthetic is a studied juxtaposition of modern restraint and traditional elegance, layered with subtle industrial notes and disciplined proportions. The result is interiors that feel collected, intentional, and quietly luxurious.
Michael collaborates closely with homeowners, developers, and design-forward brands to create environments — and product collections — that are both timeless and commercially astute.
